Amazing New Method of Resizing/Cropping Images

Published October 22nd, 2007 in Graphics, Tools and Video. 7 Comments

Shai Avidan and Ariel Shamir have created an awesome new technique for resizing and cropping images that could be a life-saver for graphics and image editors around the globe. The technique basically crops by removing (or adding) “negative” space, leaving the subjects intact. Anybody who’s done this using Photoshop knows certain images can be a real pain in the ass for doing this. Enough talking, check out the video: Continue reading ‘Amazing New Method of Resizing/Cropping Images’

People Search at Spock.com

Published October 19th, 2007 in Internet and Sponsored Post. Closed

Spock logoSpock.com is a new search engine geared towards searching people. It’s a pretty neat concept; you can search for anybody – Politicians, celebrities, athletes, your neighbors, your boss, or yourself. From what I can tell, when you enter a name, it searches all of the social networking sites (LinkedIn, Myspace, Facebook,) as well as Wikipedia, IMDB, and a few others. It gathers this info in one place (including a picture if available,) and even assigns tags. The tags are based on attributes in your various profiles – Blue eyes, Brown Hair, height, weight, occupation, where you live – whatever you made public in your profiles.

The tags come into play when you’re doing a unique search such as “brown hair, blue eyes, San Francisco” to find people with those attributes in the San Francisco Bay area – Pretty freaking cool, huh? That’s where the tags come into play.

The searching can be amazingly flexible. For example, search for “2008 presidential candidate” – you’ll get a page with (you guessed it,) the 2008 Presidential Candidates with related sites, pictures, tags, description, and more. You can even create a neat little widget from your results. The widget for the 2008 Presidential Candidate search is displayed to the right. Hell, I might display that on my sidebar until the elections. Continue reading ‘People Search at Spock.com’

Review of TechnologyGoal.com

Published October 4th, 2007 in Sponsored Post. 2 Comments

Technology Goal logoToday I’ll be reviewing a new Technology blog in blogosphere. Just started in July, TechnologyGoal.com already has 24 pages of content. Scanning over a few of their posts, I see they’re very fixated on writing about social networking. I’ts not necessarily a bad thing, just an observation. Being a real tech geek, one of my favorite posts is 13 Unique Computer keyboards. Another really cool 2-part series is Creating Torrents and Publishing Torrents, which can come in handy if you feel like contributing back to your software-pirating brothers :)

Starting a Business in Nevada

Published October 4th, 2007 in Business and Sponsored Post. Closed

With so many businesses moving overseas for tax advantages, cheaper labor, and other (financial) reasons, one is to wonder if there are going to ever be any more companies left in the states. Most small businesses don’t have that choice though, and have to do it the old fashioned way, high taxes and all. However, thanks to a sponsored post, I learned today that starting a business in Nevada has quite a few advantages over other states. Due to no state tax, no franchise tax, and minimum bureaucracy, Las Vegas is becoming a very popular place to start a small business.

Today’s sponsored post comes from IncParadise.com, whose total package for Nevada incorporation costs $283. I don’t know very much about incorporating a company, but from what I do know, it seems rather inexpensive. If you have your own Registered Agent, the total is only $194.
